In this series I cover key features of backpacking boot construction to help you in your purchase decision. I may have left some things out but I cover the important parts. I don’t review specific boots and probably won’t ever: models change frequently and it’s just logistically impossible for me now. Using the info I provide here just give a good basis for getting the right heavy duty hiking boot.

** Please do not PM me with questions about specific boot models and what would be good for you. I apologize but I just don’t have the time to research it for you.

You can re-stitch a boot, and you can also re-glue a boot as well, but IMO it is better to take it to a cobbler and have them do it, than to do it yourself, as they have much better tools and materials to do it with.

That was on my Merell Overdrives, but I think that was a defect as it happened pretty quickly so I got them replaced for free and the second pair weren’t as bad, but still not perfect.
