I’m going on a hiking trip and I need the most durable kind.

I would pick Vasque, also. I’ve had mine for years and they have been thru alot :)
You should break them in for sure before you go. It may take some time, especially if you are not used to hiking boots.
I didn’t get any special insole for mine. But you should keep them waterproofed, you can get the wax from the shoe store.

    REI coop also sells their own brand — of which I have. They are OK, but if I had the money, I’d get a pair of Vasque boots.

    Make sure you spend the money for a good set of in-soles also. I made that mistake backpacking the Grand Canyon. My boots were good, but with cheap in-soles I ended up with blisters, anyway.

    the best brand of boots are the ones that best fit your foot. Go to a store and try on boots and ask questions. EMS has very good boot fitters so does REI.
